Why Every Room at Grace Haven Is Private, With Its Own Bathroom
Many care homes, including some good ones, place two residents in a room with a curtain between the beds. We built Grace Haven without a single shared room. Every resident has a private room and a private bathroom.
Dignity
Your mother spent her life with a door she could close. Bathing, dressing, a hard night, a phone call with a grandchild: these should not happen in front of a stranger.
Sleep
Older adults already sleep lightly. A roommate who snores, gets up often, or has the television on is a real health problem, not a small annoyance. Private rooms mean real rest.
Fewer illnesses
Colds, stomach bugs, and worse spread fastest between people sharing a room and a bathroom. Private bathrooms are a simple, permanent infection-control measure.
Their own things
Residents bring their own bed if they like, their chair, pictures, a quilt, a radio. The room becomes theirs. Families tell us this is what finally makes the move feel settled.
Two sizes
The single private room is 161 square feet; the extra-large room is 224 square feet, with space for a sitting area or a second chair for visitors. Both have a private bathroom. Both are included in one flat monthly fee.
