Music, Painting, Bingo, and Sunshine: The Activities Program
Nobody moves into assisted living for the activities calendar, but it is one of the first things families notice once a parent lives here. A parent who was sitting alone in front of the television is now painting at a table with a friend.
Music
Live music on the patio is a favorite. Local musicians play, residents sing along, and a few get up and dance. One of our Facebook posts put it simply: a little music plus a little dancing is good for the soul.
Hands busy
Painting, crafts, dominoes, cards, puzzles. Bingo with prizes, sometimes hosted by a local business that comes to visit.
Outside
The patio, the gardens out front, the view over the fields. In summer, sunshine really is the best medicine. In fall there is the festival, with hayrides' worth of decorations, family, and friends.
Holidays
A Halloween costume afternoon. Christmas carols sung by visiting children. A Fourth of July BBQ. Birthdays, for residents and staff alike, with cake.
Faith and quiet
Our mission speaks of spiritual as well as physical health. Residents who want prayer, a visit from their pastor, or simply quiet time have it.
No pressure
Every activity is an invitation. Some residents join everything. Some prefer their room and a book. Both are fine. The point is that there is always something to say yes to.
